Using Billy Broess' 5 Lightbulbs to Structure My Latest TOC

This might be the most useful thing I've shared ...

Hey everyone! I’m doing something a bit different with this post - it’s both (gobsmackingly) educational and (transparently) promotional.

I want to share how I used Billy Broess’ 5 Lightbulbs framework to structure my latest offering.

(Even if you’re not interested in the program, you will find value in seeing the framework in action.)

The Ideal Customer

First, let me be clear about who my ideal customer is - because it’s probably the most important input and output of the 5Lbs.

My thing helps: people who already understand Theory of Constraints, but struggle to make it work, at work.

Remember when I told you about my super amazing clever banking solution, that no one cared about, until I found the 1 person who cared about it? Whatever your selling - whether it’s a consumer product, a training course, or a shockingly good idea - if you don't pitch it the person or people who care about the problems you're fixing ... you'll fail. 🤯

How I Structured this Using 5 Lightbulbs

I actually sat down with Claude AI and mapped this out stream-of-consciousness style using its voice capture mode. Here’s what emerged:

Lightbulb 1 (Current Reality)

  • People understand TOC theory but struggle to implement it
  • They’re interested but can’t turn knowledge into action
  • They’re frustrated because they love the ideas but …

Lightbulb 2 (Other Options/Common Approaches)

  • Reading more TOC literature (which often leads to overwhelm and brain fog)
  • Deep-diving into specific tools like Evaporating Cloud until you understand the theory and the promise inside out
  • Giving copies of a 1980s book to colleagues, hoping it will sell the ideas to them
  • Learning various influencing tactics

Lightbulb 3 (My Approach)

  • “Just Enough TOC” (JET) - more than that is too much!
  • Focus on only the 3 most practical, useful bits of ToC

Lightbulb 4 (Offer Details)

  • 3 live sessions in December with recordings, scheduled to suit UK, US, EU, NZ and AU waking hours.
  • $us600, but discount by 55% for black Friday.
  • Covering:
  1. Finding real-world bottlenecks
  2. Solving complex problems with evaporating cloud thinking & corkscrew solutions
  3. Getting friggin’ difficult things done (Ambitious Target Table)

Lightbulb 5 (Desired Future)

  • Ability to solve problems others can’t - yay genius!
  • Practical implementation skills
  • Making a real difference in your life and others’
  • Earning more, over time, because … you’re worth it.

Do you see how the 5 Lightbulbs framework clarifies why some one would or wouldn't buy your product.

It also helps you think real hard about who you help.

I used to hate thinking about that kinda thing. Marketing. Selling. Now ... it's a lot more fun! What changed? Before I had no idea what I was doing. And that sucks.

I literally spoke all that stuff into Claude.ai and it tidied it up for me - 6 minutes work, made easier by having a simple framework, and having already clarified my big idea -💡3.

JET! ✈️

Ready for the full program details? Let’s dive into Part 2…

Part 2 - only if you’re into ToC … but frustrated.

Actually, most of the details are up top, just not written like an advert but instead written as something educational and (I hope) useful.

So there's no need for me to repeat stuff unless ...

If you're struggling with ToC ... here are the logistics:

Because the world is round, the date varies according to where you live:

  • NZ/AU: Wednesday 4th, 11th, and 18th December
  • UK/US: Tuesday 3rd, 10th, and 17th December

And so do the times:

  • 7 am Sydney / 9 am Auckland / 3 pm New York / 8 pm Edinburgh

And since it’s Black Friday, and I’m looking for an excuse to lower the price, I’ve knocked it down by 55% from $us600 to $us270 (total price)

There aren’t limited spaces (there never are!), but I may only run this once.
