Wet day bottlenecks.

I lovely, simple example of every day Bottleneck management
clarke ching

I just learned that my kids’ high school has different lunch breaks on this sunny and wet days.

They shorten the younger kids’ lunch break and see them home early on wet days.

Why? On wet days more parents drive to school to pick the kids up, which creates a bottleneck both of parking, and for all other traffic on the nearby roads. So, in order to reduce the load on the bottleneck (and effectively eliminate it) they spread the pickup time out.

I love this little, local example of bottleneck management. So simple and pragmatic.
